2011-05 May Report

Spring has been a busy time – as ever – for members of Dolau WI. Many events have been on offer  from Federation – Julie Hardwick attended a Staging and Display workshop at which she was obviously a star pupil  as she went on to win First Prize in the County Show held in Knighton at the beginning of May!

Julie also won Second Prize in the Floral Display section. Well  done Julie – once again flying the flag for Dolau WI.

Craft Workshops have also been attended, plus Aqua Aerobics classes and the Annual Council Meeting which had a really entertaining speaker – Susan Marshfield – whose hilarious talk was entitled ‘Barefoot to Buckingham Palace’

In April Julie Hardwick was kind enough to provide us with a Keep Fit Evening.  This took the form of a dance routine which Julie very energetically performed and Members tried their best to follow. May saw us ‘travelling’, courtesy of Sylvia Richards, to Wyoming and surrounding states in America, including a visit to Yellowstone National Park. Familiar place names from western films we had seen many years ago were brought to life by Sylvia’s beautiful presentation and photograph albums and the evening was much enjoyed.

Our numbers are rather depleted at the moment due to several members moving from the area etc. So if ever you vaguely thought of joining now would be a really good time – you really would receive a warm welcome. If you would like to know more about the WI in general, or Dolau WI in particular please call either Julie on 01597 851256 or Colette on 01597 851050.

The WI – all kinds of opportunities for all kinds of women!
