2017-01 January 2017 Report

Dolau Women’s Institute Report January 2017

The members of Dolau W I continue to learn new skills and hone existing ones. In December they learned how to make Christmas wreaths and table decorations, demonstrated by Gill Holt and Julie Hardwick, from Midway Nurseries, who are both W I members.

In January it was learning to do calligraphy, and members had the expert guidance of Chris Haslock who showed members the art, and helped them with practising their new found skills.  A full and exciting programme follows for the rest of the year, with February being a demonstration of sugar craft.

As the March meeting falls on St David’s Day, there will be an evening of Welsh Cookery from Neil Dillon of Brecon Caterers. This is an open meeting with a bring and buy, to which other WIs and visitors are welcome. Refreshments will be provided.

To complete a full Spring programme Dolau WI will be holding a fundraising coffee morning on Saturday 18th February at 10am, in the Dolau Community Centre, with lots of homemade cakes and tasty goodies , bookstall, bric-a-brac etc. Proceeds will be shared with the local Community First Responders.

WI meetings are held in the Dolau Community Hall at 7.30pm on the first Wednesday of every month. New members and visitors will find a warm welcome.
