Dolau WI April 2017 Report

The April meeting saw the ladies form Dolau Women’s Institute present a cheque for £200 to the Llandrindod Wells First Responders, who told members a little about their work, all voluntary and said the money would go towards equipment for them.  They often have emergency calls in the area

In April the ladies from Dolau Women’s Institute held a coffee morning and raised funds for the Llandrindod Wells First Responders. In the photograph Dolau WI president Debra Coombs hands over a cheque for £220 to Tony Dudley and Sasha Jackaman from the Llandrindod Wells first responders.

The talk was by Daniel Butler on foraging, showing beautiful slides of mostly fungi to be found in Wales, and where many grow locally, it is hoped in the mushroom season he can be persuaded to take members on a fungus foray in the area.

On Bank Holiday Monday May 1st the WI are joining forces with Penybont Community Centre to present an evening of entertainments music, comedy, dancing and a performance of the play Myfanwy written and produced by Dolau WI member Gill Holt

The next meeting is on May 3rd when a health care professional will talk about continence.  The June meeting is on June 7th when there will be a flower arranging demonstration and hands on practice.

Dolau WI meet on the first Wednesday of every month at 7.30 in the Dolau Community Hall. Visitors and new members are always welcome.
